Vitamin D vjerovatno je jedini vitamin o kojem se u svijetu nutricionizma ne govori puno. Mo\u017eda stoga jer je u potpunosti besplatan: tijelo ga stvara upijanjem sun\u010deve svjetlosti. S obzirom da farma-industrija ne mo\u017ee prodavati sun\u010deve zrake, promocija vitamina D nema smisla. Upravo to je razlog za\u0161to puno ljudi ne zna koliko je vitamin D, ustvari, va\u017ean za na\u0161e zdravlje.<\/p>\n

Svima je potrebna ista koli\u010dina vitamina D (10 mcg) na dnevnoj bazi za odr\u017eavanje zdravih kostiju ali brzina kojom proizvodimo vitamin D se veoma razlikuje.Ljudima sa tamnijom ko\u017eom potrebno je vi\u0161e izlaganja suncu da bi dobili adekvatnu koli\u010dinu dok ljudima s svijetlom ko\u017eom,tako\u0111er godinama I sa starenjem potrebno je vi\u0161e izlagati se suncu.<\/p>\n

Manjak vitamina D \u010de\u0161\u0107i je kod osoba koje se rijetko izla\u017eu suncu, nose za\u0161titnu odje\u0107u i koriste sredstva za za\u0161titu od sunca, kod osoba tamnije puti, pretilih osoba, osoba koje uzimaju lijekove s utjecajem na metabolizam vitamina D, hospitaliziranih pacijenata, trudnica, institucionaliziranih osoba i osoba starije dobi.<\/p>\n

Preporu\u010dljivo je svakodnevno izlaganje ve\u0107ih dijelova ko\u017ee (lica, ruku, nogu, le\u0111a) suncu, u trajanju 5 do 30 minuta. Imaju\u0107i na umu kancerogenost sunca i prevelikog izlaganja sun\u010devoj svjetlosti, duljinu izlaganja treba prilagoditi vlastitoj osjetljivosti na sunce, te izbjegavati ono najja\u010de, izme\u0111u 12 i 15 sati.<\/p>\n

Prevelike koli\u010dine vitamina D u organizmu uzrokuju hipervitaminozu D, a dugotrajnija hipervitaminoza D uzrokuje nakupljanje kalcija u krvnim \u017eilama i zglobovima, vrtoglavice, pa \u010dak i komu. Posebno oprezni moraju biti bubre\u017eni bolesnici, osobe s aterosklerozom, \u017eene u menopauzi te osobe sa sarkoidozom.<\/p>\n

Brojna istra\u017eivanja pokazala su da vi\u0161e od 50% \u017eena preko 50 godina i sli\u010dan procenat \u017eena koje se lije\u010de od osteoporoze imaju neadekvatan nivo vitamina D.<\/p>\n
